An Interview with T.j. Hamon: Valley Pure Cultivation Innovation

State-of-the-Art Cultivation

T.j. Hamon, Director of Cultivation

This year, we grew our Valley Farms cultivation facility to 75,000 sq. ft. dedicated to producing premium cannabis products from seed-to-shelf. It’s allowed us to produce some exciting in-house strains like our Pure Gas Strain, Banana Punch, and our classic Pure Velvet strain that are loved by our customers.

With seven licenses in total, four retail, one cultivation, one manufacturing, and one for distribution, we’ve produced an unparalleled footprint in the California Central Valley.

We were able to sit down with our Director of Cultivation, T. j. Hamon, to find out more about what makes Valley Pure successful and unique to the industry and to learn what’s in store for 2022.

The Valley Pure Cultivation Mix

T.j. attributes a large part of Valley Pure’s cultivation success to its selection of high quality growing material, crop nutrition, and state-of-the-art lighting. “I think we have one of the most state of the art facilities in the industry right now.  We track a lot of data points and I think that allows us to fully understand our rooms, and our strains,” T.j. told us.

Coco Coir by CharCoir is a professional grade growing medium made from coconut fiber. It’s triple washed to remove salts and has a very low EC with less than 0.5, and is also 100% biodegradable. A prefered growing ingredient by Valley Pure, Coco Coir is 100% coco RHP certified from Holland, assuring our cultivators the product is made using the highest standards in the industry.

T.j and his team trust and use King Solomon branded line of advanced crop nutrition to yield the finest quality Valley Pure strains. King Solomon fertilizers offers complete nutritional needs including all the essential macro and micro nutrients in a single two-part product, without the need for several different additives. The company’s fertilizers are easy to mix, won’t precipitate, and will hold Ec, ppm, and pH when diluted to specifications. They are effective at high commercial production levels in both hydroponic and soil based growing systems.

The Valley Pure vertical grow configuration features Fohse (Future Of Horticulture Science & Engineering) and Fluence SPYDR Series lighting solutions. With Fohse’s F1V system and Fluence, our cultivators can grow under precise, uniform light levels devoid of hot or cool spots.

In the end, however, it comes down to our people. “I also have a very strong team of hard working, knowledgeable individuals,” T.j. said. “I think all those things combined is a recipe for success.”

What’s In Store for 2022

2022 will be a year of growth for us at Valley Pure. “We are looking to expand and add five more flower rooms next year,” T.j. revealed. Demand has grown exponentially for our in-house strains and customers have their favorites. “We are going to be releasing more Watermelon Sugar and Pure Gas,” T.j. said. “Those really seem to be a fan favorite.”

Watermelon Sugar by Valley Pure

Watermelon Sugar is one of T.j.’s favorites, as well. “I personally like watermelon sugar because of its very heady high. Very strong nose, it tends to just like the name describes it,” T.j. describes. “Fruity nose and taste, has to be my personal favorite right now. Very flavorful.” And the strain’s terpene profiles register in the 3% range.

Pure Oranges is another of T.j.’s favorites. Testing in the high 30%’s this strain is all citrus, it’s very heady as well. “I am all about flavor, and the pure oranges is all that and then some,” he declared.
